A guided meditation for the chronically online.

Mid-itation is an autobiographical short film by Letao Chen navigating what it means to be spiritual in the age of extremes. Taking on the form of a self-help guru influencer, a doppelgänger of the film's director, guides a meditation in the glossy rendered surfaces of the inbetween. Behind the superficial comedy of internet lingo, she leads us to solace in the flux of rapid acceleration. Oscillating between hope and despair, creation and ruin, comfort and sorrow, the film encourages the audience to "shift into a comfortable position" and adhere to its instructions.

Letao Chen notes: 'I have been obsessed with the ontology of identity because I grew up feeling trapped in the stereotype of the asian girl. I always had to prove my stereotype wrong or provoke some kind of discrepancy in order to be seen as a human being. Image making was at first my weapon, then lead me down the path of exploring identity in our ever accelerated world. It is confusing out there, it is new all the time, and we are always feel behind. I hope to bring understanding to places that one wouldn't think they needed it. I want to put how everyone feels into films because I want to tell them I feel it too.'
