Berlin based Co-Directors and visual artists Megan Courtis and Antonio Pedro have been working together since 2015 creating an archive of lucid, dream-like work. Their latest video Your Hollywood is a visual interpretation of Anna Friedberg’s lyrics, which explore the spectrum of emotions she felt when processing a very painful breakup. After hearing the track for the first time, the pair felt that the lyrics painted extremely vivid visuals, and they should be elevated by simple and beautiful poetic imagery.
“If you're my black
Then no more night
If you're my blank
Then no more whites”
Courtis, 'We decided we wanted to capture intimate and painterly-looking portraits of Anna and chose to shoot the video entirely on 16mm film. It was important for us to visually convey moments of disorientation to try and mimic how confused and fragile she felt post-breakup. We used both color and black and white film and experimented with compositions that explored the feeling of being engulfed in darkness and washed in light.'
Directed & shot by @meganjcourtis and @topedros all on 3 rolls of 16mm.
