American Cuck is a short sex comedy built around afternoon drinks between two Williamsburg couples on very different pages. Dreamed up and shot in the same backyard, Cuck uses this particular misguided attempt at polyamory to mine the dysfunctional relationships between today’s trendiest Brooklynites for laughs (and maybe even gasps). We also put specific effort into the around-the-table conversation scene as it helped capture the Williamsburg/Bushwick/Brooklyn-of-today we wanted to convey as an essential theme. Cuck was also a debut for a number of the creators, serving as my short directorial debut, Niall E.M. Ridgley and Matt Thomas’s debut as writers, and as So Precious Film’s first production.

The director Torin Cronin says: 'Believe it or not, I actually got brought on to the project of American Cuck only a week or two before shooting by Andrei Dolezal, our producer and star, and James Russin, our DP. From that first meeting it genuinely felt like it was a match made in heaven with our writers, Matt Thomas and Niall Ridgley. I was immediately on board with this project because I think the film does a great job satirizing the current culture of New York,  and while it’s able to be silly it also highlights darker aspects of the scene and the right-wing underbelly that has its grip on downtown NYC. My favorite reaction I get to this film is when someone comes up to me after the screening and says “you know something similar actually happened to me,” and I then get to hear a detailed story about the most diabolical man to ever live. I think it’s because these characters are so familiar, while they might not be in your circle you’ve definitely bumped shoulders with them at a party or accidentally eavesdropped on them while waiting for the bathroom at a bar. They encapsulate the modern day troubles of the podcast renaissance, the revival of bloggers, and poly couples on Instagram reels.'
