The film started off as a series of questions we sent out to more than fifty womxn who were either about to turn 30 or had just turned 30. Jade and Georgia asked them about how they felt about turning 30, about their expectations and about their hopes. The biggest thing they discovered was that everyone’s experience was wildly different. Some people felt like they were living their best lives, others said that they wished they had achieved more and some felt a lot of pressure to have it all figured out. This set the tone for the visuals that they created which mixed a combination of beautiful and cinematic shots with other scenes that felt more cold and painful. In between they peppered our own VHS footage and old existing paintings as we wanted to elevate the piece and bring in a medium commonly associated with beauty ideals and social critique.
