Where Do You Want Us?

A documentary exploring issues of safety concerning the female and gender minority skateboard community in Leeds

Directed by Sarah Oglesby and Harry Meadley, 'Where Do You Want Us?' seeks to offer an insight into the experiences, viewpoints and hopes of an often misunderstood and marginalised community of female, nonbinary and trans skaters. ‘Where Do You Want Us?’ is built upon the work of Civic Skateboarding, an ongoing project by Meadley, attempting to make public spaces safer and more inclusive.

Sarah Oglesby says: As a director passionate about sharing stories and feminist based perspectives, I was thrilled when Harry approached myself and Sodium Films to create Where Do You Want Us? Prior to creating the documentary, I was unaware of the amount of adversities women+ skaters face on a daily basis, with a lack of accessible and safe space in a thriving city like Leeds. Talking to the skaters who arepart of Civic Skateboarding was insightful and inspiring, and I am grateful to have learnt so much from them. I hope this film will evoke change, not only within Leeds, but right across the skateboarding community.
