In "A Forgotten Place," shot on 16mm, Kat, a reclusive stripper, reluctantly returns to her conservative hometown after learning of her mother's terminal illness. Haunted by the mystery of Kat’s unsolved disappearance as a teenager and the belief that she was abducted by an otherworldly being, she begins to grapple with her perception of reality as forgotten fragments resurface. Amidst familial tensions and unsettling revelations, Kat's journey unravels the truth behind her past, leading to a climactic confrontation with the enigmatic forces that have haunted her for years. This gripping sci-fi drama delves into themes of memory, the supernatural, and the search for meaning in a world filled with uncertainty.

Director Alice Barros says: My whole life, I’ve always been searching for magic, in all its many forms. After my father told me about his experience as a young boy that never could be explained, I believed with absolute certainty that something supernatural exists in our world. At the same time, I felt forced to accept the unknowing...the mystery of it all, after feeling misunderstood and at times crazy. But then I realized that making movies is a form of magic and that I can create a world in which a character, who longs as much as I do for validation in their beliefs, can get the satisfaction of knowing it is all real. So in my short film ‘A Forgotten Place’, I hoped to explore that powerful emotion through an intimate, raw, and honest story about a young woman who feels misunderstood, as she fights for the truth surrounding her abduction as a teenager.
