Taking inspiration from her novels and personal life, Mimi's works focus on female perspectives, cultural representation, transgenerational patterns and content for children. She is seeking justice for happy endings in the world of art house cinema – hoping to inspire and never crush her audience’s souls.
Mirjana Mimi Vlaovic is a London based genre storyteller, born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia. She has written and published three novels for children and has worked on over 50 short films, music videos, documentaries as a writer-director, producer, production designer, costume, editor, curious to live filmmaking through multiple angles.
She has graduated as a BA in digital filmmaking at SAE Institute Belgrade, and an MA in Filmmaking at the London Film School with a distinction.
Her latest writing-directing project is her LFS graduation film Your Guardian that premiered at the BFI London and has won seven awards worldwide (Watersprite FF, Cornwall FF, Fine Line FF, PAMA...). With this film Mimi has also been shortlisted for Young Director Awards in Cannes last year.
