Katie King is a London based animation and textiles artist from the esoteric lay-line town of Glastonbury, Somerset, where people are often naked and it is easier to buy a rat crucified on a stick than a pair of knickers. Working from her studio in Hackney she makes moving image using the cut-out out style with textiles. Her storytelling is focused on the mysteries of womanhood and exploring the tensions between situations or events which are aesthetically pleasing but morally questionable. King is a graduate from the Royal College of Art Animation Masters as well as holding a bachelors in Religion, Philosophy & Ethics from King’s College, London. Her RCA graduate film Made For Duty Overseas (2023) premiered at Pöff, as well as winning Best Animation at Film Maudit 2.0 2024 in Los Angeles and runner up in her category at London Short Film Festival 2024.
