Francesca Canepa is a Peruvian filmmaker who strives to tell stories with a socially conscious message. El Silencio del Río is her second short film shot on the Amazon River, longlisted for Best Live Action at the Academy Awards 2021. The film is currently in distribution following its world premiere at Berlinale 2020. Her first Short Film AYA, shot in the Peruvian Andes, garnered the honor of Best Ibero American Short Film at the Guadalajara’s International Film Festival (FICG) 2017 and enjoyed strong praise from international cinema critics. Following studies for a scriptwriting degree at the prestigious EICTV in Cuba, the Filmmaker is now penning her first feature film script titled BELEN, while also directing advertising and music videos in Madrid.
