Ella May Kirby

Ella Kirby is a British and Catalan filmmaker who’s passion lies within performance driven directing. Born in Norfolk but raised in rural Catalunya, Ella grew up on an olive farm, has a younger brother called Joe and was taller than all of her classmates. She now lives in London, is in a long distance relationship (6736 miles) and works as a Creative Researcher. She loves working with actors and always sets out to make her stories personal, because if not, they just don’t work. She likes plant based things, walking long distances and is named after Ella Fitzgerald. Ella’s also a director who wants to pay homage to people and celebrate characters by putting them at the heart of the film process. Filmmaking for Ella is a community; she will strive to create that feeling with everyone involved in all the projects she does.
