Onyinyechukwu Akametalu

Onyinyechukwu Akametalu is a Nigerian American director, writer, and content creator who aims to expand narratives, bridge gaps, and educate through entertainment. She started her entertainment career at the age of 16 choreographing for major African musicians, but was on set one day when she realized she wanted to get more involved behind the camera. Storytelling was not new to Onyinyechukwu because she grew up constantly writing stories, poems, and songs in her journals. However, the most she knew about cameras came from using her fathers film roll camera as a child. She enrolled in film courses that polished her creative voice and disciplined her in the art of film production. She made her directorial debut with short film “Wild Gyal”, a coming of age story inspired by her experiences growing up in the Nigerian American community, which went on to win many awards. She continues to direct and write content in the film, music, and fashion industries, and you can often find her on set still parading her father's old film camera around her neck.
